Practical Nurse Access
Program Overview The Practical Nurse Access Program is designed to prepare graduates to meet or exceed the Standards of Practice and Competencies for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in British Columbia and the Code of Ethics, as set out by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC).
The Practical Nurse Access Program philosophy is based on a humanistic, experiential approach to education. Learners are viewed as responsible, self-determined individuals having the capacity to negotiate their own learning needs with the guidance and support of expert facilitators. This way of being in the learning experience is intended to emulate a way of being in the practice experience with clients, families and groups. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will possess the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and sound clinical judgments that will enable them to practice in a professional manner.
