Jeannie Baird, Graduate
Administrative and Accounting
Assistant Program
"Discovery Community College is a wonderful place with great staff and faculty!
Shortly after graduation, myself and my husband Al purchased and are now managing a successful business - AJ's Laundry Service. The Administrative and Accounting Assistant Program helped prepare me to run the business. It taught me how to work with customers, bookkeeping and how to develop correspondence for new customers. I loved the small class size and the amount of one-on-one help provided by the instructors. It was a relaxed atmosphere and you could work at your own pace. I would recommend the program to anyone who was going back to school. It was a positive experience and I would do it all over again!

"The staff at Discovery Community College were fundamental in supporting and motivating me to get my pre-requisites to start the Practical Nurse Access Program. They were also very helpful in providing funding information and helping me figure out what type of funding would be best for me. I also do wound and care plans for another company. Good luck to the next grad class!"

"Over the past few weeks we have had a number of Discovery Community College students in our facility during their practicum. They are nearing completion of their program. The staff have found them to be one of the most pleasant, skillful and hardworking group of students they have had the opportunity to work with.
In addition, I am duly impressed with the instructor's abilities and demands and actions she has taken with her students. She has supported her students and dealt with issues always in a professional and caring manner for both our residents and her students.
It was a pleasure having them."

Licensed Practical Nurse Access Program
"We have had the opportunity to hire a Discovery Community College graduate as a part of our staff. She came to us when we were very needy for good staff members. She was able to slot into a position of importance, quickly taking on a lot of responsibility. She dealt with challenging situations efficiently and effectively. all her decisions were made well and when she knew she did not have the knowledge she approached the right people in the right way. She understands her own limits well. Her manner has always been open, enquiring and helpful. Hiring this DCC student was definitely for us a very worthwhile move.
We will continue to look with great interest at students of the College."
